Cuisine: American, Breakfast
There are plenty of meals Kristen and I enjoy throughout the day, but breakfast is definitely one of our favorites. We could honestly eat it at any time, any place. Here is a little list of recommendations we would like to share with you if you’re in the mood to chow down on the most important meal of the day.
FANCY’S SOUTHERN CAFE (Fort Myers)
Don’t let the name fool you. It’s not out of the realm of being out of your budget. This place actually makes outstanding food for a decent price. We went there for biscuits and gravy one morning and I needed a nap afterwards. Their breakfast menu is extensive, and it includes other popular items with a southern twist.
SKILLETS (Fort Myers, Estero, Naples)
Skillets is another local hot spot for breakfast that people love all around the area, and there are plenty of them.14 to be exact, and they’re all locally owned. Nice place to get some avocado toast and fruit or traditional eggs, bacon, and rye toast (usually what I get).
BUCKINGHAM FARMS (Fort Myers)
For the health nuts out there, you don’t get anything better than this place. Everything here is locally grown in house and/or procured locally, which makes everything on the menu taste deliciously fresh. They also do private events on the grounds and catering as well, if you’re looking for a venue.
LEO’S FRENCH TOAST HOUSE (Fort Myers)
With a name like that, ‘nuff said. But seriously, Leo’s French Toast House lives up to the name. Their pancakes are also pretty killer, too.
JOE’S CAFE (Lehigh Acres)
Joe’s Cafe is a Lehigh legend, and it has been around for over 20 years. Joe’s Cafe is a breakfast diner offering up traditional breakfast favorites: eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes, etc. (You get the drift.)
Joe’s only accepts cash and since it is such a local hot spot, be prepared to wait at least 20-30 minutes before you go. But trust me – it’s worth it.
ALVA DINER (Alva)
We already wrote a blog about this place as well as others on this list, but we can’t get enough of Alva DIner. Everything from here is just great all around. Of course, it’s their breakfast that stands out. Nothing beats good ole fashioned artery clogging biscuits and gravy with a side of “damn I ate too much I cant get up.”
Like Joe’s Cafe, it is cash only.
THE BAGEL FACTORY (Fort Myers)
This place hits home for me. Even though it’s not a traditional restaurant, it’s just simply an awesome bagel shop. The bagels are made fresh every morning and if you don’t get there in time, they are usually sold out by 11. They have a ton of varieties to choose from and they also make their own cream cheese. There are no preservatives, so if you do get their cream cheese, make sure to eat it in a timely fashion!
EATERY BY RYAN (Fort Myers/Estero)
The Eatery By Ryan has killer vibes, amazing food, and drinks that are perfect for your weekend brunch. We’ve eaten here a couple of times, and the traditional breakfast foods stand out the most. We also love their coffee!
TRACKSIDE DONUTS (Bonita Springs)
Like Joe’s Cafe in Lehigh, Trackside Donuts has a cult-like following in Bonita Springs. The donuts are made from scratch every day, and if you don’t get there in time, you’re going to miss out on your favorites! Our top flavors are the PB & J, blueberry frosted, and vanilla frosted with sprinkles.
CAFE FLORE (Fort Myers)
Cafe Flore was a welcome addition to Fort Myers because we truly think there isn’t any place like it around. They were ranked #23 on the list of 100 Best Places to Eat in Florida and for a good reason! Their avocado toast includes a drizzle of balsamic glaze and heirloom tomatoes atop sourdough or multigrain bread. In addition to that, they make all sorts of coffee drinks and their iced salted caramel oat milk latte is to die for! If you’re feeling REALLY hungry and have a sweet tooth, definitely get their beignets and a slice of carrot cake.
All in all, that is our top 10 list of breakfast restaurants in Southwest Florida. We hope you enjoy it ! If you go to any of these places, make sure to tag us using @momandpopeats.
