Metro Deli & Cafe: A Hidden Gem in Fort Myers

Sandwiches are easily one of our favorite foods. They’re incredibly versatile and honestly, we could both eat sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Making a great deli sandwich is a craft. Sure, anyone can slap some meat between 2 pieces of bread and call it a sandwich.

But if you’re looking for a sandwich that is a work of art (and also delicious), you must try Metro Deli & Cafe in Fort Myers.

About Metro Deli & Cafe

We stumbled upon Metro Deli & Cafe when we found their neighboring beef jerky store. (Sean is a beef jerky lover and the regular stuff you find in grocery stores won’t do.) Ft. Myers Beef Jerky store is owned by the same people who own Metro Deli & Cafe. It’s in a plaza off of Metro Parkway, closer to the Daniels Parkway side.

Metro Deli offers breakfast and lunch and there is plenty to choose from. We frequent Metro Deli for our Friday lunches and Kristen also ordered Metro Deli’s catering for her work holiday brunch.

Sandwiches to get at Metro Deli

We’ve been a handful of times and I tell everyone I know to go there if they’re looking for a good sandwich. So far, here’s what we’ve had and recommend you try:

  • Turkey Club – the turkey club sandwich is the best thing on the menu. Both of us have ordered it at least twice and they are VERY generous with the meat. The veggies are incredibly fresh and the bread is toasted to perfection.

  • Tuna Melt – the tuna melt is simple (toasted bread, tuna, and cheese). But with a tuna melt, that’s really all you need.

  • Breakfast Croissant Sandwiches – Kristen’s company ordered a selection of their breakfast sandwiches for a company party and they were all delicious. We ordered croissant sandwiches with egg, cheese, bacon, and sausage and they were filling.

Sides to get at Metro Deli

The sandwiches are awesome, but the sides are also worth a try.

  • Coleslaw – their coleslaw is UH-MAZ-ING. It’s a perfect blend of veggies and whatever dressing they use. 100% recommend if you like coleslaw.

  • Breakfast potatoes – the breakfast we catered included their breakfast potatoes. Seasoned perfectly, cooked to that “just-right” crispiness, and overall delicious.

Local Sandwich Catering

As mentioned above, Kristen ordered Metro Deli & Cafe catering for a company work brunch. The experience was seamless and I would highly recommend Metro Deli to anyone looking to cater breakfast or lunch.

How their catering works:

  1. Call the owner (Carole) to talk about what you’re looking to do.
  2. She helps create the menu based on how many people, dietary preferences, etc.
  3. You can pick it up or they can deliver (the delivery fee was minimal).
  4. The delivery process was so easy and they were early – a huge plus.

Overall, Metro Deli & Cafe is a hidden gem located in your backyard. If you appreciate a good sandwich made with love, definitely give them a shot.
