Homemade Cookin’ at Fancy’s Southern Cafe

Fancy’s Southern Cafe is a staple in Fort Myers. They’re known for their amazing homemade Southern dishes, homegrown hospitality, and their unique style of shabby chic decor inside.

Cuisine: American, Southern

Great for: date night, special celebrations, anniversary dinners, happy hour with a friend

It’d been a while since we’d been to Fancy’s, and each time we go, we need to basically be wheeled out because of how full we are. The food is from-scratch and you can tell with each bite you take that it’s just like what mom used to make.

About Fancy’s Southern Cafe

Fancy’s has been around for several years and they’re located on Daniels Parkway. Their restaurant is in a plaza kind of tucked away off Daniels, and you likely wouldn’t know it was there if you were just driving by. But tucked away in this plaza is a restaurant offering some amazing food, craft cocktails, and an atmosphere I have yet to find anywhere else in Fort Myers.

They are usually pretty busy, even outside of our standard tourist season. I would highly recommend making a reservation at least 3 days in advance to make sure you get a table.

The inside is a lot bigger than it looks, and there are 2 major rooms: the dining room and the bar area. The bar is the first place you will see when you walk in. There is often live music, and the artist is in the bar sitting in what looks like a loft.

The dining room fits around 15-20 tables and they are fairly close together. Make sure you check out their unique lighting and wall structures! According to the website, everything was hand-made.

We went for dinner on a Friday night, and the family in front of us was celebrating a birthday. The family had a few special requests about a birthday cake and the server on staff wasted no effort to make sure it was special for them.

What We Ordered at Fancy’s

Fancy's Meatloaf Sandwich and Mac and Cheese
  • House Cabernet – I ordered a glass of their house cab, and the glass of wine was HUGE. I didn’t snap a photo, but if you want a glass of wine at Fancy’s, you won’t be disappointed in the size.

  • Meatloaf Sandwich – it seemed a little silly to order a sandwich in a place like Fancy’s. But homemade meatloaf between 2 toasted pieces of sourdough bread? Count me in. It was amazing and perfectly cooked.

  • Macaroni & Cheese – this was the “fixin’” I chose for my meatloaf sandwich. This is, by far, some of the best restaurant macaroni and cheese I have ever had. Perfectly cheesy with a toasted cheesy top. YUM.

  • Pot Roast – this is Sean’s favorite. It comes with a bowl of gravy, carrots, and homemade pot roast as well as 2 fixin’s. Sean ordered his with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans.

All in all, if you are looking for homemade food without having to actually make it at home, check out Fancy’s Southern Cafe.
