Find Authentic Mexican Tacos in Fort Myers at Taqueria San Julian

Tacos have become all the rage these days as more people have discovered what a versatile food it is. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can all include tacos if you really wanted to! But if you’re sick of the run of the mill taco places or the lame at-home dinner kits, then Taqueria San Julian is THE place to go.

If you ask anyone in Lee County where you can find the best tacos, chances are that you are going to get at least a few people tell you they’re at Taqueria San Julian – and they’re not wrong.

Taqueria San Julian is on US 41, near Crystal Drive and in a plaza with some larger chains, like Honey Baked Ham and Dunkin’ Donuts. On our quest for great food, we decided to try Taqueria San Julian and honestly, we haven’t looked back since.

The Atmosphere

Our first dine-in experience was prior to COVID-19 (oh, if we only knew). It’s a small place and when you first walk in, you’ll be surprised by just how many people can fit inside.

The staff is super friendly and efficient. The woman who is usually running the phone for to-go orders is usually also helping dine-in customers. (So, if you call for a to-go order and you’re asked to hold for a few minutes, don’t be surprised and most importantly, be a little patient.)

The inside has maybe 10 or so tables that can seat 2-4 people. It’s not a great place for a large group gathering, but they are amazing with large to-go orders. More on that later.

Inside, you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped out of Fort Myers and into Mexico (although, I have never been, so I can’t say for certain!). The walls are painted in bright colors and the moment you step in, you’re going to smell the most amazing taco smells.

On the Menu

Now, let’s get to the real real reason you’re reading this blog: the food.

The menu for Taqueria San Julian is small, but it definitely packs a punch. You’ll find the usual:

  • Tacos (beef, pork, chicken, etc.)

  • Quesadillas

  • Nachos

  • Chips & guacamole

  • Chips & pico de gallo

  • Chips & queso

  • Drinks (some Mexican beers and sodas)

(Also, as of the time I am writing this blog post, their margaritas are only $5.00!)

But I’ve heard from several people that the pork tacos are hand-down the best ones. We’ve tried the beef, chicken, and pork, and pork is always my go-to.

In addition to the tacos, I ALWAYS order a side of chips & pico de gallo. The pico is definitely made fresh every single day and I have yet to order a bad batch. The tortilla chips are also homemade and always fresh. Definitely get the pico de gallo if you go!

Ordering Tacos To-Go

As I mentioned before, Taqueria San Julian is not the best place for a large group gathering. But if you order to go, your order is going to be made perfectly.

We ordered some tacos to take to family in Lehigh Acres, and the total of the order was $70 or so (meaning we got a LOT of food). They got every piece of that order correct.

To order to go, you can just call them. Depending on the time of day, you may be asked to hold because they do get busy. Even if you hold for a few minutes, the person taking the order will tell you your order will be ready in 10-15 minutes. We’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes for our food to be ready.

All in all, we’re constantly on the hunt for amazing and authentic Mexican tacos in Fort Myers and around, but we constantly come back to San Julian. If you’re looking for that, too, definitely give Taqueria San Julian a try. You won’t regret it.
